This refers to the Confirmatory Action Letter Rlll 89-02, followup inspection
[
conducted by Kristine M. Shembarger of this office on March 16, 1990 and
< April 3, 1990 of activities at Zion Generator Station, authorized by Operating
>
License DPR-39; DPR-48 and to the-discussion of our findings with Glenn Tryzna
at the conclusion of the inspection.
On April 23 and May 10, 1990 management meetings.were held between Geoffrey
Wrig1t and Thomas Joyce and others to discuss the inspection findings.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identified areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.

The inspection identified on attendance problem during the first requalification-
program cycle in 1990 which, while improving, also extended into the second
. cycle.
This lack of attendance was considered a weakness in the licensee's
requalification program, particularly in light of cominitments made in the
CAL.
All licensee personnel who missed this training were given the lecture
notes for review and exams on the subject material.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC

Public Document Room.
