. MCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION PLAN REVIEW, REVISION 30
'We have completed our review of Revision 30 to your McGuire Nuclear Station Emergency Plan, dated March-1990.
Based on our review, we have concluded that-the changes meet the planning standards of 10 CFR 50.47(b) and the requirements of Appendix E to 10 CFR 50 with one exception.
. Page i-4, Item C, Planning Basis, Ingestion Exposure Pathway contained a change regarding the basis.for the ingestion exposure pathway zone size. The last paragraph was modified to state "There is little likelihood of exceeding ingestion pathway Protective Action Guide levels at ten miles for a significant release of radioactive materials." The addition of the word "little" con!pletely-changed the meaniny of the statenient and. did not appear consistent with statements made elsewhere in tne ' Plan.
This matter was discussed with R. Leonard of Dub Power Company where it was determined that the. change was
- a typographical error.
The licensee representative conunitted to revise the paragraph to be as stated in the previous Plan ' revision.
This is,to be
-completed during the next Plan review cycle.
Please be r'eminded that 10. CFR 50.54(q) requires' that proposed changes that-decrease the effectiveness of your Emergency plan shall not be. implemented 1
fwithout application to and approval by the Conmission. However, changes may be made without -Consission approval if such - changes do not decrease the.
effectiveness of the Plan, and the Plan, as changed, continues to meet-the standards of 10 CFR' 50.47(b) and the requirements of Appendix E to 10 CFR 50.
If a change is made without approval, you should furnish copies in accordsi1ce with 10 CFR 50.54(q).
Also, any changes to the Emergency Plan Implementing Procedures, should be make in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix E Section V.
