COMEC-89 EXTENSION OF CONTRACT No.
NRC-34-89-347 WITH ALAN ROSENTRAL FOR REVIEW OF OI MATTERS Commissioners Roberts, Rogers, Curtiss and Remick concur with your proposal to permit Judge Rosenthal's contract to expire at the end of December.
Commissioners Rogers and Remick also concur that the Inspector General should assume the responsibility for determining the significance of any tapes received in response to the subpoenas and pursue any line of investigations suggested by them.
In the interest of continuity, Commissioners Curtiss and Roberts would defer judgment at this point-on transforming this case, and await the outcome of the subpoena proceeding before deciding whether there should be additional involvement on the part of Judge Rosenthal or the matter should be turned over to the Inspector General.
The attached memoranda to Judge-Rosenthal and Mr. Williams are forwarded for your signature.
