Identification of occurrences i
Fire Diesel Pump 1-1 was removed from service to install a modification and was not restored to a functional status within seven (7) days as required by i
Technical specification 3.12.B.
Deectiotion of occurrence The Fire Diesel' Pump 1-1 was taken out of service to install a modification which replaced the existing pressure switch / recorder mechanism with an upgraded design.
The installation, testing and return to service required eight (8) days.
Analysis of occurrences l
Maintenance on the Fire Diesel Pump automatic start pressure switch / recorder mechanisms was becoming a burden to the Oyster Creek Nuclear Plant.
The switch / recorder mechanisme were difficult to calibrate to within the desired tolerances and no replacement parts were available due to the obsolete design.
As the Fire Diesel 1-2 was functional during the time period the modification was being insta11od in fire diesel 1-1, the safety significance.of this event was minLmal.
I Corrective Action:
1 The modification to Fire Diesel Pump 1-1 pressure switch / recorder me8hanism was completed, tested and returned to functional status on 4/20/90.
