Ref  : Ederer Shop Order No. F-1440 4 In anticipation of-your possible need for use of the main or-auxiliary hoist systems before retrofit of the '

slides, we: offer i the following: ,

l I

With the system in.either the " brake' set" or " ready" condition, g

remove the side cover of the slide enclosure., Be ready to. catch j

a small amount of oil.from the enclosure. Now the slide opera- 1 tion may be observed and the hoist accepted for-use if full lat-  !

ching of the slide is verified. . Full latching is shown on draw- )

ing A-12858, Section C-c. In your maintenance manual. Notice that the " finger" of item 52 is fully.past the " nose" of the -

slide, item 51. If the finger rolleriis' stuck at the tip of the a slide nose, then the slide is jammed-and may<not' allow setting of  !

the drum brake if needed.

il Once the s11de is verified to be not jammed, the hoist may be  ;

used up until the brake is set again for any reason. Then, again, the slide latching must be re-verified to be correct. You may leave the side cover off temporarily if several verifications '

are anticipated in a short time span. The cover should be re-placed if wait time goes beyond several days. .I would expect only one verification of latching would cover many lifts, since <

there thould be no need to use the drum brake under normal condi-

  • tions. Also, you should observe the slide enclosure after-the first several minutes of use so.any excess oil leakage'can be cleaned up.
