Docket No. 50-293.

Boston Edison Company ATTN: Mr. Ralph G. Bird Senior Vice President - Nuclear Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station RFD #1 Rocky Hill Road Plymouth, Massachusetts 02360 Gentlemen:

Subject:

NRC-UTILITY INSPECTION WORKSHOP Per my commitment from the April 1989 Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance Conference in King of Prussia, I am proposing a workshop to be held at the Hilton in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on June 20-21, 1990. -The objective of the workshop is to promote a better understanding of the NRC's inspection program.

For your convenience, a block of rooms has been reserved at the. Valley Forge-Hilton, at the rate of $75.00 dollars per night for a single room.

Reserva-tions should be made directly with the Hilton (215-337-1200) for your staff by June 1, 1990. After that date, reservations will be accepted according to hotel availability. When making reservations, mention that you will be attending the NRC-Utility Inspection Workshop.

Enclosed is the proposeo agenda with keynote speakers and an outline for breakout sessions facilitated similar-to previous conferences.

Session topics are currently being developed, as proposed in the enclosed agenda, along with facilitators for the-sessions.

Bruce Preston of PSE&G (609-339-1229) is arranging for utility presentations. Gene Kelly of my staff (215-337-5234) is I

coordinating NRC presentations. Recommendations for discussion topics should I

be directed to Bruce or Gene as appropriate.

L I anticipate that participation will include site management and senior nuclear executives, at levels similar to those in attendance at the April 1989 l

workshop. We estimate that 75-90 utility. representatives-and 25-30 NRC representatives will attend.

I look forward to your participation.

Sincerely, ORIGINAL SIGNED By*-
