On April 6, 1990 the NRC administered requalification re-examinations to
'
licensed operators of the Limerick Generating Station Units 1 and 2 who had
failed sections of the requalification examinations given the week of January
1
29, 1990. The examinations were conducted in accordance with NVREG-1021,
!

" Operator Licensing Examiner Standards," Rev. 5, section ES-601, " Administration
of NRC Requalification Program Evaluations." At the conclusion of the evaluation,
j
findings related to the preparation and administration of the requalification
examination were discussed with those members of your staff identified in-the
enclosed report.
One senior reactor operator and one reactor operator took the written portion
i
of the requalification examination. Both operators passed the re-examination.
Since only two operators were examined, this review did not constitute a
-
program evaluation and does not change any prior determination regarding the
.
unsatisfactory Limerick Generating Station requalification program. However
based on the satisfactory results, the two operators can resume performing
licensed. duties.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
