Inspection No. 82-01
This refers to the routine inspection conducted by Mr. R. D. Schulz of this
office on January 18, 1982 to February 26, 1982, at Nine Mile Point Unit 2,
Scriba, New York of activities authorized by HRC License No. CPPR-ll2 and to
the discussions of our findings held by 11r. R. D. Schulz with members of your
staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas exnained during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report whicn is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas,
the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and
representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
inspector.
Based on the results of this inspection, it appears that certain of your
activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements, as
set forth in the Notice of Violation, enclosed herewith as Appendix A.
These violations have been categorized into the levels described in the
Federal Register Notice (45 FR 66754) dated October 7, 1980. You are
required to respond to this letter and ir. preparing your response, you
should follow the instructions in Appendix A.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosures
will be placed in the NRC Public Docume,nt Room unless you notify this office,
by telephone, within ten days of the date of this letter and submit a written
application to withhold information contained therein within thirty days of
the date of this letter. Such application must be consistent with the
requirementsof2.790(b)(1). The telephone notific.ation of your intent to
request withholding, or any request for an extension of the 10 day period
which you believe necessary, should be made to the Supervisor Files, Hail
and Records, USNRC Region 1, at (215) 337-5223.
