SUMMARY
OF MARCH 3,1982 MEETING rd-%
/
On March 3,1982, a meeting was held at the Pottstom Pennsylvania Holiday Inn to discuss the confirmatory piping analysis that will be performed as part of the Mechanical Engineering Branch's safety review.
Participants included NRC, its review contractor Pacific Northwest Laboratory, and PECO and its contractor Bechtel. The meeting, which was open to observers from the public, followed a morning tour of the Limerick site. A list of meeting attendees is provided in Enclosure 1.
The meeting opened with a description by NRC of the methodology to be employed
.in the confirmatory piping analysis, as outlined in the February 10, 1982 letter from A. Schwencer of flRC to E. Ba"er of PECO. This was followed by a short presentation by NRC on the reviev process used by the Mechanical Engineering Branch (MEB). This process proceeds directly to the Draft SER input stage, replacing the normal first-round of questions. The Draft SER input documents all of the unresolved issues identified in the review. A meeting is then held with the applicant to resolve most of these issues prior to drafting the SER input.
This meeting tentatively is scheduled for December 1982, o f January 1983.
A cursory review of the information package relating to the SRV discharge piping system (line A), provided by PECO in response to the above-cited letter, indicated a need for the following additional information:
1.
Spring-hanger data for main steam line A 2.
Specification of the applicable codes employed in the analysis 3.
Force-time history for the SRV blowdown PEC0 agreed to furnish Item 3 in June 1982 and the data for Items 2 and 3 at some later date.
NRC requested that PNL provide MEB with a letter detailing the acceptability of the infonnation package.
