- REQUEST FOR ADDITI0flAL IrlFOR!!ATION He have conpleted our review of your.!!qy 6,1980 letter that replied to IE Bulletin 80-04 " Analysis of a PWR Main Steam Line Break with Con-tinued Feedwater Addition".

IE Bulletin 80-04 requested you to review the containment pressure response to a main steam line break (ItSLB)-

accident to deternine the ir. pact of runout flow from the auxiliary feedtatcr (ARI) system. Your msponse indicated that in the event of a ItSLU, main feedwater -(Iml) would be automatically isolated and ARI to both steam generators would be automatically initiated. Upon identi-fication;of the affected stesa generator, AW to the steam; generator t

would be.nanually isolated in accordance with established energcncy I

procedures. Ilowever, the time required for these operator. actions was not specified in your submittal. Consequently, please give us the infomation requested in the enclosure within 45 days of receipt of this -

Enclosure REQ"EST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION s

Please give us the following information I)

Identify what actions must be performed by the operator to:

i

1) identify the affected steam generator and
2) isolate the AFW flow.

Please provide the times required to perform these actions, along with justifications for your assumptions.

II) For a MSLB with no operator action taken, will containment design pressure be exceeded?

If so provide: '1) tho time required to reach design pressure and peak pressure, 2) the magnitude of the peak pressure.

III) Provide an evaluation of the ability of the AFW pumps to continue to run without damage at runout flow for 30 minutes.
