PEACH BOTTOM ATOMIC POWER STATION NARRATIVE
SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXP N MCES FEBRUARY, 1981 UNIT 2 The Unit operated throughout the month at full power with the exception of the following load reductions. On February 1, and February 14, Reactor core flow was slightly reduced to correct CMFLPD increases due to gadolinia burn out in the bottom of the core. On February 9, 1981, load was reduced by 55 MWe for approximately 5 hours5.787037e-5 days
0.00139 hours
8.267196e-6 weeks
1.9025e-6 months
due to high differential river temperatures.
On February 27, load was reduced to approximately 700 MWe to adjust control rod pattern and to clean the condenser inlet tube sheets.
The E-3 Diesel Generator was blocked out of service for approximately one and one-half hours oc February 24, 1981 to repair a small tubing leak on a lube oil system pressure switch. The RCIC system was taken out of service for recalibration of the flow controller ramp generator and for repairs to the turbine trip throttle valve which took two days, ending on February 26, 1981.
UNIT 3 The Unit operated throughout the month at full power with the exception of a reduction control rod adjustment on February 7, and a 55 MWe load reduction on February 9, for approximately 5 hours5.787037e-5 days
0.00139 hours
8.267196e-6 weeks
1.9025e-6 months
due to hi @ differential river temperatures and a trip which occurred late on February 25,1981. On that date the unit was manually scrammed when both recirculation pumps tripped due to closure of their discharge valves. The recirculation pump discharge valve closure resulted from trouble-shooting to find ground on the 125 VDC system.
On February 5, 1981, the 3B RPS M/G set was taken out of service and the associated RPS bus fed from the alternate source due to the failure of the output overvoltage trip relay during a surveillance test. The RPS M/G set was returned to service on February 7, 1981 following relay replacement, calibration and testing. The HPCI was taken out of service for a day on February 16, 1981 for repair of an oil leak on the tur-bine overspeed device.
The unit was removed from service on March 6, 1981 for a scheduled refueling, maintenance, ar.d major modification outage.
