~o OMAHA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT'S RESPONSE TO COMMISSION'S LETTER DATED FEBRUARY 4, 1982 Request 1 The licensee should verify that it has a movable sampling unit concisting of an iodine sampler and dual channel analyzer able to accurately measure the iodine airborne concentration of vital areas.
Response
The District has an airborne radiciodine monitoring system, Eber-line Model SAMII, consisting of a portable iodine sampler and a movable.
two-single chan>.el (or dual channel) analyzer. The dual channel ana-lyzer is, however, normally located in a low background area in the Technical Support Center. The iodine cartridge used in post accident sampling is made of Silver-Zeolite.
The radioiodine monitoring system is shared at the two vital areas, i.e.,
Technical Support Center and Control Room / Operations Support Center, during an emergency. The oper-i ating instruction, 01-PAP-9, is used during an emergency for sampling andanalyzingtheradiciodinegggthevitalareas.

~
accurately determined with this analyzer which is located in a low i
background area.
Request 3 The licensee should verify that it has a low background counting laboratory availabic at the site to perform iodine counting.
