Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station This is to acknowledge your letter of January 19, 1982 which transmitted a description of the combination padlocks that Boston Edison Company plans to use for the protection of unclassified Safeguards Information in controlled and protected areas.
4 We have reviewed the information concerning this lock and have determined that the described lock is not acceptable for use in securing unclassified Safeguards Information within a controlled access area.
Its use in a protected area, such as at the Pilgrim Station, is acceptable considering the other protective measures enployed in meeting the requirements of 10 CFR 73.55. At present the only lock which meets the regulatory require-ments for both controlled access and protected areas is the Sargeant and Greenleaf No. 8077A.
