This refers to the routine safeguards inspection conducted by Mr. W. J. Tobin

of this office on February 1-5, 1982, of activities authorized by NRC License

Hos. DPR-62 and DPR-71 at the Brunswick facility and to the discussions of our

findings held with Mr. C. R. Dietz, General Manager, at the conclusion of the

inspection.

Area; examined during this inspection included your physical security program

as implemented under the provisions of Tii.le 10,' Code of Federal Regulations,

Part 73, " Physical Protection of Plants and Materials" and the specific

requirements of your approved Security Plan. Within these areas, the inspection

consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records,

interviews with personnel, performance tests, and observations by the inspector.

We have examined actions you have taken with regard to previously identified

enforcement me-ters.

These are discussed in the enclosed inspection report.

On February 10, 1982, C. Burger, Chief, Reactor Projects Section, Region II,

spoke with C. Gibson, Assistant to the Brunswick General Manager, and it was

agreed that your staff would submit correspondence to the Office of Nuclear

Materials Safety and Safeguards describing your actions relative to Inspector

Follow-up Item #50-324/80-42-02 described in paragraph 3 of this report.

The material enclosed herewith contains Safeguards Information as defined by

10 CFR 73.21 and its disclosure to unauthorized individuals is prohibited by

Section 147 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.

Therefore, ?.he

material, with the exception of the report cover page which is an inspection

summary, will not be placed in the Public Document Room.

Should you have any questions concerning this letter, we will be glad to

discuss them with you.
