Gentlemen:
Subject: Combined Inspection 53-354/32-01 and 50-355/82-01
This refers to the routine resident safety inspection by Mr. W. H. Bateman on
January 4
31, 1982 at the Hope Creek Generating Station, Hancock's Bridge and
Newark, New Jersey. The inspection consisted of document reviews, interviews,
and observation of activities, and the results have been discussed with !!r. A. E.
Giardino of your staff.
An apparent Violation of NRC requirements is cited in Appendix A and categorized
by level in accordance with Federal Register Notice 45FR66754 (October 7,1980).
A reply is required and should be prepared in accordance with Appendix A.
It is
exempt from the Office of flanegement and Budget's clearance proceduros under the
Papcrwork Reduction Act of 1930, PL 96-511.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosures will
be placed in the NRC Public Document Room unless you notify this office, by telephone,
within ten days of the date of this letter and submit written application to with-
hold information contained therein within thirty days of the date of this letter.
Such application cust be consistent with the requirements uf 10 CFR 2.790(b)(1).
