Dear fir. Parker:
Your staff has informed us that the reuaining tests and analysis associated with the h/dro9en control and coabustion will be completed in llarch 1982 and submitted by April 15. 1982. This constitutes an additional four months delay from our previous understanding on the progress of this program. The remaining tests involve important issues on hydrogen deflagrations ano mixing / distribution that need to be addressed in our Safety Evaluation Reports.
This delay is of considerable concern to tne staff since we are required to present our findings on the adequacy of the per.aanent ir/drogen uitigation systems for the three ice condenser plants to the Connission; and also._ obligated to inform the ACRS.
The Cotanission was previously advised by the staff that we would be able to aiscuss our findings in April 1982. This was consistent with our Cornission mandate, as defined in your license conot tion on ricGuire. that we need to determine the adequacy of the hydrogen control system prior to startup af ter the first refueling.
For the above reasons we request that you submit the following by February 25, 1982:
(a) Detailed realistic schedule for the completion of the remaining experiments and analysis by your contractors as well as your independent analysis of the results.
