Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-416/417 File 0260/15525/15526 IE Inspection Report of October 19-30, 1981 AECM-82/16
Reference:
MAEC-81/258, 12/02/81 This letter provides our response to NRC Violation 416/81-46-02 as transmitted by your letter MAEC-81/258, dated December 2,1981. This report was originally due on January 1,1982 but an extension was granted by Mr. R. Butcher, of your of fice on December 31, 1981.
I.
ADMISSION OR DENIAL OF THE ALLEGED VIOLATION Mississippi Power and Light Company admits to the alleged violation.
II.
REASON FOR THE VIOLATION The reason for the violation is:
Numerous procedures are being used for the first time resulting in numerous procedure changes in the form of temporary changes.
III.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TAKEN AND RESULTS ACHIEVED Corrective Actions which have been taken are:
a) A full assessment of temporary changes overdue for incorporation into revisions is being made with revisions being written as they are identified. All necessary revisions are expected to be issued by January 15, 1982.
b) Those temporary changes identified in inspection report 416/81-46 for incorporation have either been included into a revision of the proce-8202050452 82d127 by January 15, 1982.

CORRECTIVE STEPS TAKEN TO AVOID FURTHER VIOLATIONS Corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations are:
a) In order to minimize the number of temporary changes being issued, Plant Staff has been-directed to not issue temporary changes unless scheduled work completion could be impacted.
b) A monthly list will be published of temporary changes processed during l-the past month and will be provided to personnel responsible for incorporating changes into the procedures. This early notification will allow timely processing of revisions.
c) Training will be provided to Maintenance Supervision with emphasis on minimizing the viumber of temporary changes to those _necessary' to sup-port ongoing work. This will be completed by January 15, 1982.

DATE TO ACHIEVE FULL COHPLIANCE i
It is anticipated that full compliance will be established by January 15, 1982.
