GN-156 Gentlemen:
The Georgia Power Company wishes to submit the following information concerning the violation discussed in your inspection reports 50-424/81-12 and 50-425/81-12.
The violation occurred as stated in the inspection report.
The violation occurred because manual holders not returning receipts for amendments were not being contacted and reminded of the necessity to return amendment receipts.
All QA Department Procedure Manuals have been reviewed for amendment status. Those which were out of date have been updated.
To avoid future violations, the procedure which controls the QA Department Procedure Manual has been revised.
It now states that manual holders not returning receipts will be reminded within 45 days that failure to confinn receipt and posting of the amendment could result in their manual being recalled or declared uncontrolled.
Full compliance was achieved on December 31, 1981.
Neither the inspection report nor this reply contains any proprietary information and may be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
