Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 Seismic Monitoring Program
Dear Mr. Denton:
South Carolina Electric & Gas Company, acting for itself and as agent for South Carolina Public Service Authority, has purchased two strong motion accelerometers to be placed at a common location near the Virgil C. Sumer Nuclear Station for measurement of free-field ground motion at the ground surface and at bedrock.
It was planned to have this instrumentation in operation during 1981 (Ref: FSAR Section 2.5.2.6, Amendment 24); however, due to delays in equipment delivery, we were unable to meet this commitment.
It is our intent to proceed with the installation of.the instrumentation as soon as possible. We will keep members of the Staff apprised of the progress of the installation and of the successful completion of the work.
