Dear Mr. Groce:
The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 60 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-36 for the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station in response to your application dated November 18, 1981.
The amendment:
(1) Revises the Technical Spc lications in support of the Cycle 6 steam line break analyses; and (2) Revises the Technical Specifications by restructuring certain sections for clarification purposes.
Some portions of your proposed Technical Specifications have been modified to meet our requirements. These modifications have been discussed with and agreed to by your staff.
We have completed our review of your Cycle 6 main steam line break analysis submitted by your letter of October 29, 1981. We find this analysis, performed to include the affects of the new steam driven feedwater pump meets our requirements and is acceptable. Therefore, the 4000 MWD /MTU exposure limit imposed by our July 10, 1981 letter is rescinded and operation authorized for the remainder of Cycle 6.
During our review of your proposed Technical Specifications we noticed that they do not include sufficient limiting conditions of operation and surveillance requirements for the equipment, including instrumentation and control systems, required by your steam line break analysis.
In discussions with your staff (Mr. J. Garrity) we understand that you agree to provide an application for these changes within 30 days of receipt of this letter.
