o-SYSTEMATIC EVALUATION PROGRAM TOPIC -XV-7 HADDAM NECK REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TOPIC:

XV-7, REACTOR COOLANT PUMP ROTOR SEIZURE AND REACTOR COOLANT PUMP SHAFT BREAK 1.

Provide transient curve of primary system pressure for the limiting loss of forced coolant flow event.

Also provide an analysis of the limiting loss of forced coolant flow with a single failure event.

Confirm that the results of these analyses meet the acceptance criteria for these events per SRP 15.3.1.

2.

The licensee is :aquested to provide a qualitative analysis to compare the RCP rotor seizure accident with the RCP shaft break accident to identify the limiting case with respect to maximum RCS pressure and limiting fuel performance.

Provide tabulations of the sequence of events, disposition of normally operating systems, utilization of safety systems and transient curves including RCS pressure and DNBR and reactor coolant flow for the limiting accident.

The analysis should assume a loss of offsite' power as a result of turbine trip, the Technical Specification limit of steam generator tube leakage and a single active failure in safety systems. Appro-priate delay time for loss of offsite power may be assumed if suitably justified.

Confirm that the results of the analysis meet the acceptance criteria for these events per SRP 15.3.3.

Assume any fuel rod which has a DNBR less than the minimum DNBR value determined for Haddam Neck fails.

State the amou.nt of failed fuel in the results of the analysis.

Radiological consequences should be calculated accordingly.
