Inspection 50-334/81-26
This refers to the special safeguards inspection conducted by Mr. G. C. Smith
of this office on September 16-18, 1981 at the Beaver Valley Power Station,
Shippingport, Pennsylvania of activities authorized by NRC DPR-66 and to the
discussions of our findings held by Mr. G. C. Smith with Mr. F. Bissert of
your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the Office of Inspection
and Enforcement Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures
and rep esentative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the
inspector.
Our inspector also verified the steps you have taken to correct the items of
noncompliance brought to your attention in letters dated January 22, 1981,
March 17,1981, May 19,1981, July 16,1981, July 17,1981 and July 27, 1981.
We have no further questions regarding your action at this time.
Within the scope of this inspection, no items of noncompliance were observed.
In accordance with 10 CFR 73.21 of the NRC's regulations, documentation of
findings of your control and accounting procedures for safeguarding special
nuclear materials and your facility security measures for physical protection
are deemed to be Safeguards Information. Each person who produces, receives
or acquires Safeguard Information is required to ensure that it is protected
against unauthorized disclosure.
Therefore, except for the report coversheet,
the enclosures to this letter will not be placed in the Public Document Room
and will be distributed pursuant to 10 CFR 73.21(c).
