Dear Senator Percy:
Thank you for your recent letter enclosin ce from Mr. Tom Falvey.
Director, Greenpeace, proposing an independent rev ew of the earthquake features at the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant.
On November 20, 1981, the Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC) suspended the ifcense for Diablo Canyon Unit 1, which authorized fuel loading and low power operation, pending completion of a specified seismic reverification program to the satisfaction of the Commissioners.
I am enclosing a copy of the Commission's order and a copy of a letter sent by Mr. Harold Denton, Director of NRC's Office of Nuclear Reactor ~ Regulation, requesting certain additional infomation.
I hope that this information is responsive to your constituent's concerns.
