General Description The site of the Crystal River Plant Unit 3 is a h,738 acre area located in Citrus Ccunty, Florida alcng the Gulf of Mexico apprcximtely 7-1/2:
tiles northwest of Crystal River, Florida and 70 miles north cf Ta=pa.
The site is shared by two fcesil fuele:i plants, Units 1 and 2.
The site and regicnal tcpegraphy is charactericed by ~ grove swamps and.
marsh lan:in a.leng the coast of the Gulf cf Mexico rising to gently rolling hills about 16 miles inland.
The exclusicn area foi the site is designated as a circular ene with'a radius of h, LOC feet. This s c: zone has been specified as the restricted area as defined in 10 CFR Part 20.
The prcperty within the exclusion area is wholly owned and centrolled by Florida Power Corporath;n (FPC). The only site activity stated by ??C is the prcduction of electrical power.
The low pcpulation zene is specified as the area within a five mile radius of the plant. The 1971 populaticn cf the area is 496 and the year 2020 pcpulaticn is prcjected to be 1,590. Currently, there are no residents withinabcut3-1/2milesoftheplant.

The 1971 population within c^ miles of the site is 17k,2k3 and a pcpulation of 380,737 is expected by the year 2020. - The nearest town ~
in Crystal River, (1970 pcpolatien - 1,6c6)-about 7-1/2 miles to the
. southeast. The nearest pepulation center of 25,000 cr greater is1 Gainesville (1970 population - 6h',510).which is 55 miles-frcm the. site.
Ocala'(1970 populatien - 22,-583) is located about to miles northeast of the site.
The applicant states that =cre than 90 percent cf the surrounding land -
is used for crop prcducticn and cattle grazing. Additional information has been requested en fazning ana dairying in the' plant vic!nity.
Industrial development, transportation routes and water use for fishing.
