I ma pleased to provida you with the enclosed detailed statement prepared by the Cosmission's Division of Reactor Licensing on environmental considerations in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act relating to the application for an oper-ating license filed by Duka Power Company for the Oconee 3uclear Station, Unit No. 1.
A notice of proposed issuance of an opera-ting license was published in the Federal Racister on January 3, 1971.
This statement was prepared in accordance with our interi:n peo-cedures for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, and includes the applicant's environmental report and the comments of various Federal, State and local agencies concerning the environmental effects associated with the pro-posed facility. A notice of the availability.;,f the statement (copy enclosed) is being forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for filing and publication.
By separate letter, a copy of the statement is also being sent to 'tr. Edvard H. Baxter, as requested in your August 27, 1970 letter.
