Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) is providing the enclosed objectives for the upcoming 1993 Emergency Preparedness Exercise for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant. The exercise is scheduled for May 25, 1993.
The objectives for the 1993 Emergency Preparedness Exercise are being-submitted in accordance with the guidance contained in NRC Information Notice 85-55 dated July 15, 1985, " Revised Exercise Frequency Rule;" NRC letter dated October 11, 1984, " Submittal of Annual Emergency Exercise Objectives and Detailed Scenarios;" and NRC letter dated January 2,.1987,
" Submittal of Annual Emergency Exercise Objectives, Detailed Scenarios and Controller Packages."

1993 SCENARIO OBJECTIVES 1.
Demonstrate the use of the Emergency Action Level Classification procedure I
for Emergency Class declarations.
t 2.
Demonstrate notification and deployment of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) as required by the scenario.
3.
Demonstrate Emergency notification of the appropriate State and County Emergency Management contacts within 15 minutes of a declared Emergency Class.

Demonstrate the adequacy and timeliness of follow up emergency notifications to appropriate Federal, State, and county agencies.
5.
Demonstrate adequacy and timeliness of emergency notifications to the NRC (may simulate if NRC chooses not to participate in the exercise).
6.
Demonstrate the _ Technical Support Center (TSC) can be activated in accordance with the Emergency Plan and Implementing Procedure following declaration of an Alert or higher emergency class.

Demonstrate the Operations Support Center (OSC) can be ar civated in accordance with the Emergency Plan and Implementing Procedures following

Demonstrate adequate information flow from within and between each Emergency Response Facility.

Demonstrate an effective teamwork response within and between the Control Room, Technical Support Center, Operations Support Center, and Emergency j
Operations Facility throughout the exercise.

Demonstrate the transfer of direction and control responsibilities (and l
