During this meeting the SMUD strategy for the closure of Rancho Seco and

recent management and organization changes were discussed, in addition to the

current and planned staffing levels.

We note SMUD's intentions to continue to meet all existing regulatory

requirements or to request relief where appropriate.

The NRC will review

these relief requests on a case-by-case basis.

Further during the meeting the following topics were discussed:

the deferral

of comaltments; the progress and plans to investigate and resolo the problem

of leakage from the spent fuel pool; the anticipated sale of nuclear related

spare parts stored in the warehouse pknned changes to the Security Plan;'
