In a letter dated March 2,1990, the Yankee Atomic Electric Company (YAEC) l submitted a copy of a report entitled 'Nethodology for finding Potential Fluid Component Age.f: elated Degradation at the Yankee Fuclear Power Station.' This report contains and dor'iments the basis for a rule based computer program i
ceveloped by YAEC and used as part of their license renewal program to determine whether fluid system components in a pilot cystem were subject to potentially significant age related degradation.
The letter which transmitted the report requested that the report be treated as proprietary because the material i
contair.ed in this transmittal is of the type customarily held in confidence by its owner, Yankee Atomic Electric Company and not customarily disclosed to the public;theinformationisnotavaila>1eInpublicsourcesanddisclosureof I
the subject information sought to be withheld wovic likely cause substantial harm to the competitive position of the Yankee Atomic Electric Company, l
Therefore, the version of the submitted information marked as p(roprietary will be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790(b) 5) and Section 103(b) of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, l
Withholding from public inspection shell not affect the right, if any, of l
persons properly and directly concerned to inspect the documents.
If the need l
arises, we may send copies of this information to our consultants working in l
this area. We will, of course, ensure that the consultants have signed the l
appropriate agreements for handling proprietary information.
If the basis for withholding this information from public inspection should i
change in the future such that the inforration could then be made available for public inspection, you should promptly notify the NRC. You also should unoerstand that the NRC may have cause to review this determination in the M
