NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

MONTil:

February 1990 t

Catawba Unit 2 began the month of February operating at 97% power due to main feedwater control valve position. At 1115 on 02/02, the unit began a power decrease due to two main steam line nafety relief valves on steam generator

'C' being declared inoperable due to a manufacturing deficiency. At 1400 on 02/02, the NRC granted relief on the main steam safety relief valve situation, but the unit continued the power decrease for planned repair of the feedwater pump

'B' control cabinet. The unit reached 53% power at 1541 on 02/02. At 0016 on 02/03, the unit began a power increase following repairs to the control cabinet, and reached 97% power at 1355 on 02/03. The unit operated at 97% power for the remainder of the month.
