Virgil C. Sunmer Nuclear Station Docket No. 50/395 Sustained Degraded Grid Voltage SER Confirmatory Issue 1.7.13
Dear Mr. Denton:
South Carolina Electric and Gas (bmpany (SCE&G) hereby provides the following information on the topic of sustained degraded grid voltage:
1.
SCE&G Test Procedure SUM-C-1096 Subsysts ES01-E56 for plant testing of simulated degraded grid voltage (Attachnent 1).
2.
ANSI C.57.12.90, Paragraph 14.4.4.1 (1980) describes the analytical method used to calculate degraded voltages and ccmparison of measured voltage versus calculated voltage.
(Attachment 2).
As evident frm the cmparison (Attachment 2), the difference between the calculated and measured voltages are less than 1.2% which is well within the range of instrument error.
Thus, the analytical methods have been confirmed and test results validated.

In respnse to a verbal request frm your Mr. On 01opra of the Power Systems Branch, a test was conducted to determine the effect on safeguards bus voltages when starting the largest non-safety related notors. '1he details of this test are included herein as Attachment 3.
This transmittal provides the information necessary to resolve SER Confirnatory Issue 1.7.13.
