Dear Ms. Lorion:

This letter is in response to your request dated October 8,1981 for a copy

' of the proposed low-level waste management regu}ation,10 CFR 61, and for infomation regarding waste storage at the Turkey Point Station.

A copy of the low-level waste rule was transmitted to you under separate cover by Ms. Anita Ford on October 9,1981.

With respect to your questions regarding the storage of low-level wastes at the Turkey Point Plant, a.ll activities involving low-level wastes at Turkey Point are covered under the licenses in affect for the facilities; i.e.,

DPR-31 and DPR-41 for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4, respectively~.

We cannot confim the infomation provided to you by the Attorney General's office.

The Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC) staff has not received any recent specific applications for amendments from Florida Power and Light 'in the area of low-level waste storage.

Low-level waste storage was, however, raised as an. issue in the Turkey Point steam generator repair proceedings.

Amendments 69 and 61 to the licenses were issued on June E4,1981 to permit that repair program to proceed.

The repair program included storage of wastes generated from the steam generator reolacement activities.

Amendments 69 and 61 may be reviewed, along with all other amendments and ame r.dmen. requests, in the Environmental and Urban Affairs Library of the Florida International University, Miami, Florida.

S'ncerely, m
