Dear Mr. Tedesco:
In accordance with a telephone conversation between G, D. Calkins (NRC Division of Licensing) and L, B. Pyrih of our staff on October 14, 1981, we are hereby providing the 45 day response to your April 30, 1981 letter to E. G. Bauer, Jr.
It is our position that the three requests for generic evaluation made in the April 30 letter were adequately fulfilled by the General Electric Company report NEDO-24342, entitled "GE Evaluation in Reponse to.NRC Request Regarding BNR Scram System Pipe Breaks", dated April 1, 1981. This report was transmitted to the NRC by letter from Glenn G.
Sherwood (GE) to D. G. Eisenhut (NRC) on April 30, 1981.
In accordance with the reference telecon, our 120 day response will be submitted by February 10, 1982. We also note that plant specific responses conforming to the guidance contained in NUREG-0803 were requested in a letter from D. G. Eisenhut (NRC) to all BNR Licensces on July 7, 1981. Therefore, anticipating this same requirement for Limerick, our 120 day response will address the requirements of NUREG-0803 " Generic Safety dvaluation Report Regarding Integrity of BNR Scram System Piping" published in August 1981.
