This refers to your letter dated September 18, 1981, in response to our letter
dated August 21, 1981.
Thank you for infonaing us of the corrective and preventive actions documented
in your letter. . Based on a discussion between Mr. J. Driscoll, Chief Engineer -
- Salem Nuclear Generating Statica, and Mr. L. Norrholm, Senior Resident In-
spector, on October 2,1981, with respect to Item B, we understand that your
procedures will be revised to provide greater detailed guidance for posting
of radiation areas. We further understand that these changes will be imple-
mented by October 31, 1981. These actions will be examined during a future
inspection of your licensed program.
If our understanding of your preventive
actions is incorrect, please advise this office within 10 days.
In accordance with Section 2.790(d) of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2,
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, documentation of findings of your
control and accounting procedures for safeguarding special nuclear materials
and your facility security measures for physical protection are deemed to be
commercial or financial information within the meaning of 10 CFP. 9.5(a)(4) and
shall be subject to disclosure only in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 9.12; therefore, the enclosure to the' referenced letter (reply to Motice
of Violation, Appen,Mx-B) will not be placed in the Public DocQnent Room.
