subject facility on March 20 - 22, 1967, is forwarded for

One item of noncompliance was noted and a Form
.Ur AEC-592 was issued. This item concerns plant operation for two and one-half months with the primary coolant pH less than 5.0, j4' 4 "If?
the minimum value listed in the Technical Specifications.

The following items, discussed in the report, are considered to

I' 1.
Three significant train wrecks have occurred recently in the g
vicinity of the Yankee plant on the routes that would have t
been used by the fuel shipment cask.
The cask was not in-volved in the accidents.

2.
A throttle valve to the main turbine failed to close com-pletely due to a buildup of chemicals on the valve stem -
boron and phosphate.
This situa tion may become a general problem for plants that have high concentratio ns of chemA als T
in their systems and operate for extended periods of time.
3.
Additional organizational changes are described in the report.

level at Yankee.
