Inservice Pump and Valve Testing Program (iicGuire fluclear Station, Units I and 2)
Your letter of June 8,1981 forwarded Revision 2 to the ficcuire Nuclear Station's Inservice Puup and Valve Testin3 Program including a relief request for the cycle and time testing of certain containment purge valves as well as a request for relief froa certain code requirecents for all pumps.
As you know, in Supplement No. 4 to the licGuire Safety Evaluation Report Section 3.9.3, we. granted relief from certain requircaents of Section XI of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code as permitted by 10 CFR 50.55a(g).
This relief from the Code requirements was granted only for that portion of the initial 120 month interval during which we were completing our detailed review. We have not yet completed our detailed review of your proposed program, however, based on our preliminary review, we find that imposition of these requirements would result in unusual difficultie" without a compensating increase in qual <v or safety.
Therefore, p.,.Jant to 10 CFR 50.55a, we hereby grant relief from the Code require.aents requested in Revision 2 for the same period as outilned herein and in the NRC SER Supplement t:o. 4 dated Januarj 1981.
