FIRE PROTECTION - CALVERT CLIFFS We have completed our review of your letter dated August 27, 1981, which requested an extension of completion dates for fire protection modifica-tions involving Automatic Fire Suppression (Halon 1301) for the Cable Spreading Roons and Switchgear Rooms. Operability of these modifications will satisfy the requirements specified in our Safety Evaluation Report dated September 14, 1979.
Based on our review, we conclude that you have shown good cause for the requested extension in that significant progress has been made toward achieving operability of Automatic Fire Suppression for the Cable Spreading and ?witchgear Rooms.
In this regard, we consider operability of these fira suppression features to include proper concentrations of the fire suppression agent, in this case, Halon. We furtner conclude that this extension will not adversely affect the health and safety of the public.
Accordingly, in conformance with Paragraph 2.C.(3) of DPR-53 and 2.C.(6) of DPR-69, the date for operability of Automatic Fire Suppression for the Cable Spreading Room is extended to October 1, 1981 for Unit 1 and October 15, 1981 for Calvert Cliffs Unit 2.
