Dear Mr. Jones:
Item II.K.3.22 of the THI Action Plan (NUREG-0737) required the automatic switchover of Reactor Core Isolation Cooling (RCIC) Systen suction to the suppression pool when condensate storage tank level is icw. As an interin reasure until automatic switchover modifications are accomplished licensees should verify that clear and cogent procedures exist for manual switchover.
Enclosed is an evaluation of the intertia measures taken at your facilities.
This evaluation concludes that the ranual switchoter procedures have been reviewed and found acceptable.
Based upon the above, Item II.K.3.22a has been satisfactorily completed for ycur facilities.
Item II.K.3.22b, actual plant modifications, remains unresolved and will be the subject of future correspondence.

Discussion and Conclusions _
In a.1dtter to Eisenhut, submitted on December 15, 1980, the licensee stated that modifying RCIC to provide for auto-switchover of pump suction from the condensate tank to the suppression pool, will require RCIC to be removed from service.
The licensee has elected to perform this modification during the following scheduled outages:
Unit 2 - Cate 1981 Unit 1 - Early 1982 The licensee presently has 'a plant operating procedure, OP-16 "RCIC System" This procedure has been reviewed and for manual switchover of RCIC suction.
