Thank you for your letter dated September 13, 1974, informing us of the steps you have takaa to correct the violation which we brought to your attention in our letter dated August 27, 1974. We will examine this matter during a subsequent inspection.

Regarding classification of the violation, it is cur position that c.he violation is of Category II since the lack of a satisfactory *.est following other maintenance activities of containment pressure boundary "migh:

contribute to a situatior. involving radiation exposure to employees or the public in excess of permissible limits..." The existing criteria for classification of violations is currently under review. We will consider your comuments during this review.
