GPU Nuclear letter dated February 15, 1991 On October 25, 1990, the USNRC issued Generic Letter 89-10, Supplement 3,
" Consideration of the Results of NRC-Sponsored Tests -of Motor-Operated Valves".
This supplement contained both a 30-day and a 120 day response requirement.
In Reference 1 above, GPU Nuclear docketed the need for an extension to the 30-day response. This was required due to the assignment of GPUN engineering resources to support an NRC Diagnostic Evaluation Team Inspectjon.
The letter contained a commitment to provide the response prior to the commencement of refueling outage 13R.
By reference 2 above, GPU Nuclear provided the req"isite information.
On February 15, 1991, the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station commenced the 13R refueling outage.
Included in the scope of the outtge are the replacement of several valves specified in GL 89-10 Supplement 3, and significant portions of piping which also affect the systems noted in the supplement.
Accordingly, the test information necessary to provide the 120-day response will'not be available until the end of the outage.
Additional time will be required to assimilate the data into the final report. Therefore, an extension of the 120-day reporting requirement to 120 days after restart from 13R is requeeted.
