Appendix NOTICE OF VIOLATIO_N Commonwealth Edison Compcny Docket No. 50-373 Docket No. 50-374 As e result of the inspection conducted on November 1-30, 1982, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy, 47 FR 9987 (March 9,1982),
the following violation was identified:
LaSalle County Station Technical Specification, Section 6.2.B states in part, " Radiation control procedures shall be maintained, made available to all station personnel, and adhered to."
LaSalle County Station Radiation Protection Standards (LRP-1000-1) prohibit any eating, smoking, drinking or chewing in a controlled area.
Contrary to the above, the Resident Inspectors have noted evidence of eating, drinking and smoking throughout the Unit i reactor building, For example, on November 16th the Resident Inspector found an open soda can, an empty large gum package, and an apple core between airlock doors 450 and 449. The only path by which these items could have travelled would have been through Unit I refuel floor. On several occasions, the Resident Inspector has stopped personnel who were chewing gum within a controlled area.
This is a Severity Level V violation (Supplement IV).
Puriuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, you are required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of this Notice a written state-ment or explanation in reply, including for each item of noncompliance:
(1) corrective action taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective action to be taken to avoid further noncompliance; and (3) the date when full com-pliance will be achieved. Consideration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
