Gentlemen:

Subject:

Inspection No. 82-31

This refers to the routine inspection conducted by Dr. J. C. Jang of this

office on December 14 - 17, 1982 of activities authorized by NRC License No.

DPR-66 and to the discussions of our findings held by J. C. Jang with Messrs.

'

Lipchick, Linnenbom, and Wenkhous at the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I In -

spection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the

inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative

records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

In addition, our Mobile Laboratory was also brought to your site and used by

the inspector to make certain independent measurements.

The basic purpose of

these independent measurements is to verify your capability for analyzing

radioactive effluents, and to achieve and maintain comparable methods of

analyses between your facility and the NRC. The complete data from these

measurements will be reported in a subsequent Inspection Report.

Our inspector also verified the steps you have taken to correct the violation

brought to your attention in the enclosure to our letter dated October 8, 1981.

We have no further questions regarding your action at this time.

Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the enclosure

will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room unless you notify this office,

by telephone, within ten days of the date of this letter and submit written
