Dear Mr. Denton:
On May 28,1982, Florida Power Corporation (FPC) submitted Technical Specification Change Request No. 98 (TSCRN98) requesting, in part, approval for unit operation up to 1400 MWt with three (3) reactor coolant pumps. The attached report, " Crystal River Unit 3 RPS Instrument Accuracies," documents the information provided to your staff in a meeting on October 1, 1982, in suppcrt of TSCRN98 This report provides information used in determining errors for instrument strings in the Crystal River Unit 3 (CR3) Reactor Protection System (RPS). The instrument errors discussed in the report were used to error adjust the setpoints in the RPS. The three-pump (and four-pump) curves for the Power / Imbalance / Flow safety limits and trip setpoints included in TSCRN98 were determined with information in this report.
Attachment A is a non-proprietary version of the above-referenced report. Attach-ment B is a proprietary version of the report as determined by Babcock & Wilcox in accordance with 10LFR2.790. The affidavit supporting this determination is included in Attachment B.
