This letter refers to your letter of August 17, 1982, and to the subsequent tele-
phone discussion between Mr. H. B. Tucker of your staff and Mr. H. C. Dance of
this office on August 27, 1982, concerning the Notice of Deviation on the Fire
Protection Quality Assurance Program at the McGuire Unit 2 facility.
It is our
understanding that the following items are to be accomplished:
1.
All fire protection systems and features designed after January 1,1978,
will continue to be included in the fire protection quality assurance
program identified in the McGuire Nuclear Station Fire Protection
Review of September 1977 and revised January 1979.
2.
By November 1,
1982, fire protection systems and features which were
designed or design was in process prior to January 1, 1978, but which were
installed or constructed after January 1, 1978, will be identified and a
program developed to verify that these items conform to the design drawings.
This installation verification is to be accomplished by independent inspec-
tion.
3.
Adequate documentation and records are to be provided to furnish evidence
that the above inspection and verification has been accomplished.
