Dear Members of the Board:

The purpose of this letter is to advise the Licensing Board and the parties to this proceeding of the status of the six " independent" experts for whom the Intervenors requested the issuance of Licensing Board subpoenas, Dr. Eli Silver, . University of California-Santa Cruz; Dr. Clarence Hall, University of California-Los Angeles; Dr. William Dickinson, Stanford University; Dr. James Brune, University of California-San Diego; and Dr. Stephen Graham, Chevron. f First, in addi tion to Mr. Richard B. Hubbard, the Intervenors will sponsor the testimony of Drs. Eli Silver and James Brune.

Second, the Intervenors are requesting the issuance of a subpoena to obtain the testimony of Dr. Stephen Graham.

That request is enclosed. Intervenors will make no further attempt to obtain the tes timony of Dr. Dickinson.

Third, the Intervenors are attempting to reach Dr.

Clarence Hall who is in France and is expected to remain  ;

abroad until January, 1979.

c Fourth, Dr. W. Gawthrop, who was formerly with the Cooperative Institute For Research-In Environmental Sciences, University of Colorado, NOAA, has rejoined the United States Geological Survey (USGS). He is, therefore, no-longer an

" independent" expert. We assume the Board's ruling with respect to the other five USGS employees applies to Dr.

Gawthrop.

Yours very truly,
