AEC DOCKET NO 30-263 VALVE WALL TlUCKNESS VERIFICATION Thin letter ir, in reply to your January 22, 1973 inquiry regarding certain details in our program for valve vall thickness verifiention cubmitted to you in our November 3,1972 letter.

Specifically, you question whether porograph three of our August 8,1972 letter inferred an intention to use a r.tatistical campling plan for ke celection of valves for which verification measurements vould be made.

In reviewing this correcpondence ve precute your question was actually in reference to paragraph three of our November 3,1972 letter.

Oar general intention for the ceope of the valve vall thickness verification program is to examine all of the 72 subject valves, but not all these valves are to be examined during the 1973 major outage.

Iuring the portion of the program to be conducted in this outage we intend to examine the 32 valves listed in our November 8,19'(2 letter, and additional valves as might afford a reasoncble representation of valve type and manufacturer within the remainder of the 72 valvec of interes t.

The total scope of the program $ s intended to be completed concurrent with additional In Service Inspection program work in future major outagec.
