MONTICRLLO IUCLEAR GEhTRATI110 pIAliT AEC DTKET No.30-263 VALVE VALL TIIICKIIESS VERIFICATION Tnis letter is in response to your request of June 29, 1972 informing you of l

our pinns to assure that the valvee within the reactor coolant nyatem boundary of our Monticello !!uclear Ocnerating Plant meet the minimum vall thickness re-quiremento, ao specified by the applicable codes of the original procurement specification.

f It is our intention to conduct a valve vall thickness meacurement program simult.aneoasly with our Inservice Inspection Procrcm.

This vill be performed this spring daring the fuel outage.

However, at this point it appears impractical for us to examine all of the valves in question, a total of.72 valves.

We do in-tend at thst time to exa' tine the following valves.

Main Steam Saf ety Valves h

Main Steam Relief Valvec 4

lhin Steam Isolation Valvec 8

Recirculation Daction Valves 2

Recirculation DischarCe Valves 2

Recirculation Bypass Valves 2

Recirculatiora Equalizer Valves 2

Recirculation Equalizer Bypass Valves 2

Feedwater Check Valves 4

Feedwater Isolation Valves 2

In addition to those listed, we intend to examine other valves colected on the basis of their importance on maintaining coolant coverage of the reactor core and in providing a good statistical cample of-the valve type and mannfacturer.

The total number of valves vill be dependent on the available time and the impact on the scheduling of other activities that are. to be accomplished at that time.
