Final Report of Pilgrim Core Spray Sparger Inspection of October 1981
Dear Sir:
I By letter dated November 17, 1981, we submitted Aptech Engineering Services (AES) i Preliminary-Report 81-10-83, Structural Evaluation ' of the Pilgrim Station Core Spray Sparger Based upon.Results from the October 1981 Remote Visual Inspection.
l This i.ndependent assessment of the significance of surface' indications located in the core spray sparger of the Pilgrim Station concluded that the surface indica-tions are within our established structural integrity criteria and that clamping of the sparger is not required for the next 18-month fuel cycle.

The preliminary report has -since been revised to incorporate. review comments.
The conclusions of the independent assessment have not changed. This Final Report.
81-10-83, Revision 1, is provided for your information in Attachment A.
Reference 9 in Final Report 81-10-83, Revision 1, is also provided for 'your information in Attachment B.
During the next refueling outage, a similar in'spection of the core spray spargers will be performed and the results will be compared with the results in Final Report 81-10-83, Revision 1.
