Replace top panel and 4 truss-head screws.
(8)
Replace red chimney.

Leak Check l
NOTE After any maintenance on the sampling system, perform a leak check to insure the integrity of the sampling system:
Leak check all fittings by successively blocking the a.
sample ports and pulling a partial vacuum with the sample pump.
If a leak is present, you will be readily able to detect it.
Additionally, if no leak is present, and the sample line is plugged, the indicated I
sample flow rate will drop to zero after evacuation of the dead' air space.
b.
Connect a small diameter hose to the aerosol generator (e
output, this makes a fine probe for leak checking.
With the unit on; the probe should be used around all suspected fittings, the burner and the intake to the combustion air pump, look for an indicatioh on the percent penetration meter.

GENERAL 1.
Contaminated tools must be controlled to prevent their use in unrestricted areas. Controlling contaminated tools is everyone's responsibility.
The effectiveness of this procedure will depend on a cooperative effort by plant supervisors, foremen, technicians, and workers.
E.
DEFINITIONS AhD AREA DESIGNATIONS 1.
Cleen equipment or tools for unconditional release to unrestricted areas.
The limits for release are as follows:
No detectable smearable activity (alpha, beta, or gamma) using appropriate instrumentation and smear technique.
Fixed activity - less than 100 cpm per probe area above background with a GM count rate meter ~and pancake probe.
2.
Contaminated Tool - Any tool reading greater than the at ' ve.

Appling County Sheriff's office),
H.P.
office, and Shift
{u Supervisor's office, e.
TgsT GCHEOutE 1.
All communication systems will be tested at least once a month.
Tests will be conducted in the 2nd week of each
- month, I
C.
TEST PROCEDURE a
c.g3fI 1.
H.P. Technician picks up the ' phone and identifie,s himself
~
ydr.[,
and states "this is a test of the' Plant Hatch Communication f
t Gystems" Refer to Table 1 for specific test procedure on
' no
each phone, f
" 4e g
2, The individual answering the phone is requested to identify himself, and his name is recorded on the data package in the "Name" column, H.P.
Tech requests the answering party to hang up the phone when H.P. Tech hangs up, (Not required for E N.N, Gystem.
Refer to HNP-4861,)
3.
The individual at the other end tests his. system by repeating steps 1 and 2.
(Not required for E.N N,
- System, Refer to HNP-48G1.)
4 Each party checks the quality of reception, 5.
If any line or phone is noted to be lacking in reception quality, the technician will record the problem using the Communications Repair Form (Figure 2),
Also note Figure 2 being ' completed in column 4 of Data Package 1, 6,
Test it terminated and results are recorded in Data Package 1.
The H,P, Technician performing the test puts his initials on the Data Package in the " Initials" column, 7
The HP Gupervison in charge of communication will assign a tracer number to each Communication Repair Form, He will also maintain a log of these forms using the Communication Repair Log (Figure 1),

DEGCRIPTION OE_ INSTRUMENT 1.
The RM-16 is a compact extremely versatile, four decade, logarithmic read-out-dose rate meter.
Four decades are displayed on a large meter with optically coupled set points which allow high and low alarm indications without interrupting the dose rate indication.
2.
The high and low points are adjusted from the front panel and are displayed on the meter scale.
The two alarms can be set anywhere on the meter scale.
3.
The detector voltage is adjustable from 2,450-2,650V range by a rear panel control.
4.
The instrument maybe operated away from AC power source with full charge for approximately 20 hours2.314815e-4 days <br />0.00556 hours <br />3.306878e-5 weeks <br />7.61e-6 months <br />.

SEMI-ANNUAL CALIGRATION OF RM-16, 0-1 R/FU METER FACE /RD-17A l
l 1.
With PHA/ GROSS switch in the gross position, turn the toggle switch ON.
2.
Check battery by pressing battery check button to insure it is above GATT OK line.
3.
Put detector in about 1 mr/hr, 10 mr/hr, 100 mr/hr, and 1000 mr/hr gamma fields respectively, and check the reading.
Record on Instrument Calibration Data Package in the AS FOUND column.
4.
if the instrument reads i 20% of the true gamma dose rate, turn toggle switch off, and complete Data Package 1.
Replace calibration date sticker with a new one bearingtthe test date, and the date of the next. semi-annual calibration.
5.
If the instrument does not read i 20% of the 'true gamma dose cate in each field continue to step 6.

Remove the lid from the RM-16 and with the instrument in the off position remove the high voltage card (P201).
~'
NOTE Gefore starting step 7 check the voltage on the battery in the off position and insure it is greater than G volts.
If not, allow to charge for 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />.
D3 not at any time discharge the high voltage by shorting it out.
It can cause damage to the instrument.
7.
Connect red lead from mini-pulser to the high vo1tage post, and ground black lead.
Get amplitude on mini-pulser to around 5 m.v.
8.
Turn RM-16 on, turn mini-pulser on to 4.,000 pulses, and 400,000 pulses record results in AS FOUND column.
,4,000 Pulses = 10 mr/hr 400,000 Pulses = 1000 mc/hr If the instrument does not read i 10% of the value turn mini-pulser to 4,000 and adjust zero pot until 10 mr/hr is
"'"r obtained.
Turn mini-pulser to.400,0003 and adj ust. span..pp_t..
until 1000 mr/hr is obtained.
Record all results in the AS LEFT column.
~
9.
' Turn RM-16 off, replace P201 board.
Turn-RM-16 on, and..
place detector in a 100 mr/hr gamma field, and turn the high voltage pot on the back of the RM-1G until 100 mr/hr is obtained.
Then place detector in a 1 mc/hr, 10 mr/hr, 100 mr/hr, and 1000 mr/hr gamma fields.
If all points are i 20%
complete step 4.
If any of the points do not fall within. i 20% complete step 4.
If any of the points do not fall within i 20% use span and zero pots as necessary to make instrument read i 20% at all points.
Once this is obtained l
replace lid on RM-16 and fill in AS LEFT column and complete step 4.
~
10.
If instrument can not be calibrated initiate repairs.

Using an electrostatic voltmeter adjust the high voltage to 550 volts.
s 4.
Place the detector in a gamma field that will provide 1/4 scale and 3/4 scale readings respectively and record the readings in the As Found column.
5.
If the instrument reads i 20% of the true gamma dose rate turn the toggle switch off and complete Data Package 1.
Replace the calibration sticker with a new on bearing the next calibration due date.
6.
If the instrument does not read i 20% of the true gamma dose cate in each field continue to step 7.
7.
Place the detector in a gamma field that will p'rovide 1/4 full scale, adjust the zero pot so that the instrument..
indicates the proper reading.
B.
Place the detector in a gamma field that will provide a reading of 3/4 scale.
Adjust the span pot so that the instrument-indicates the proper reading. Steps 7 and 8 may need to be repeated for proper' adjustment.
o 9.
Record on Data Package 1 in the As Left column the resulting readings.
