. NEBRASKA PUBLIC POWER DISTRICT NOTICE OF GRANTING RELIEF FROM ASME CODE SECTION XI INS'ERVICE INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS s

The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has granted relief from certa.in requirements of the ASME Code,Section XI, " Rules for Inservice Inspection of Nuclear Power Plant Components," to the Nebraska Public Power District.

The relief relates to the inservice inspection program for'the Cooper Nuclear Station, located in Nemaha County, Nebraska.

The ASME Code requirements are incorporated by reference into the Commission's Regulations in 10 CFR Part 50. The relief is effective as of the date of issuance.

This action provides relief from performimg certain inspections as required by the ASME Code,Section XI, that are impractical because of the facility design.

Alternative inspections and testi'ng wil.1 be. performed where practicable.

The request for relief ccmplies with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's

regulations. The Commission has made appropriata findings as required by the Act and the Consission's regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are i

cog set forth in the letter granting relief, and accompanying Safety Evaluation.
