NIAGARA M0llAWK POWER CORPORATION NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION UNIT #1 NARRATIVE OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE April 1983 The Station operated during the Month of April, 1983, with a monthly availability factor of 0.0S. and a net design electrical capacity factor of 0.0S.. The Station was shut down March 19, 1982 for a scheduled main-tenance outage. The Station remains shut down due to Reactor Recirculation System piping cracks found during Vessel Hydro on March 23, 1982.

On April 8, 1983, the Reactor Vessel was refilled with water following completion of welding on the Recirculation Loops. Core Spray Sparger inspection commenced April 10, 1983 and was completed on April 12, 1983.

Control Rod Blade replacement commenced April 14, 1983 and finished April 24, 1983. Four LPRMs were replaced on April 25, 1983. Refueling of the Reactor commenced April 25, 1983 and finished May 4, 1983.

CLASS I WORK - INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL - April 1983 20428 - Shutdown cooling IV 38-01, 38-13; install new SS test plugs in Bonnets (installed same) .

20427 - Cleanup sys. IV 33-01 and 33-02; install new SS test plugs in Bonnets (installed same) .

202815 - Main Steam Rad. Monitors cables - install new connectors (installed same).

20461 - LPRMs #04-33C,12-41C, 44-25B (rebuilt connectors).

CLASS I WORK - MAINTENANCE - April 1983 WR #20835 - Replaced flex gasket on outlet flange to #12 Cond. Demin. Tank (4/6/83) 20014 - Opened, inspected and cleaned Check Valve 72-68 for ISI Inspection (4/6/83) 18532 - Opened, inspected and cleaned #15 RRP CLC BV to cooling coils (4/7/83) 18538 - Replaced mech. seals and bearings in #11 CRD pump (4/6/83) 18539 - Replaced mech. seals and bearings in #12 CRD pumps (4/8/83) 20018 - Opened, inspected and cleaned check valve 72-69 for ISI inspection (4/9/83)-

20441 - Disassembled #01-05 6 01-06 Warmup Valves and installed plugs for Icak rate testing of #112 and 122 MSIVs.

19513 - Opened Torus hatches to allow CB1 entrance.

20892 - Changed filter elements in #11 and 12 CRD filters.

20904 - Replaced casing cooling water check valve on #12 CRD Pump.

20446 - Replaced diaphrams and 0-rings on 11 and 12 main steam warm-up valves.

20914 - #102 Diesel (#1 air comp. for same) .

18402 - CRD filter #11 - Replaced union in CRD filter vent.
